Year 6 Using Colons and Semi-colons to Mark Boundaries

Teacher Specific Information

This Year 6 Using Colons and Semi-colons to Mark Boundaries IWB Activity includes questions designed to check pupils’ understanding of punctuating multi-clause sentences using colons and semi-colons. Pupils will identify related clauses, identify the sentence which uses a semi-colon correctly, determine whether a sentence is missing a colon, indicate where a colon would be placed in a sentence, and identify statements which are true of colons and semi-colons.

This activity is linked to the Classroom Secrets Year 6 GPS scheme of work.
Questions in this activity are based on the content in Spring Block 4 Steps 2 and 3 on the Classroom Secrets website, where you can find more resources.
