Teacher Specific Information
This Year 5 Antonym Matching Activity 3 presents pupils with an opportunity to expand their vocabulary through the use of matching antonym pairs. They are given a selection of antonym cards that need to be turned over and matched together. Most of the words used are taken from the Year 5/6 Spelling List.
Whilst we know the terminology and objectives for ‘synonyms’ and ‘antonyms’ are not introduced until Year 6, we are aware that teachers in other year groups also cover this in order to expand children’s range of vocabulary.
