This Year 4 Synonym Matching Activity 2 gives children a selection of cards that when clicked, reveal vocabulary underneath. The positioning of the cards needs to be memorised and the matching pairs selected in order to complete the game. This game covers the Year 3/4 objective to use root words to understand new words that they meet. Whilst we know the terminology and objectives for ‘synonyms’ and ‘antonyms’ are not introduced until Year 6, we are aware that teachers in other year groups also cover this in order to expand children’s range of vocabulary.
