This Year 2 Reasoning Test Practice 3 activity checks pupils’ understanding of calculating multiplication statements, solving one-step problems involving division, finding different combinations of coins that equal a given amount, use the number of hours in a day to solve a word problem and count forwards in steps of 3. After answering the question, pupils may need to select an appropriate explanation for their answer.

Number – number and place value
(2N1) Count in steps of 2, 3, and 5 from 0, and in tens from any number, forward or backward
Number – multiplication and division
(2C6) Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers
(2C7) Calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division within the multiplication tables and write them using the multiplication (×), division (÷) and equals (=) signs
(1C8) Solve one-step problems involving multiplication and division, by calculating the answer using concrete objects, pictorial representations and arrays with the support of the teacher
