Year 2 Reasoning Test Practice 2

Teacher Specific Information

This Year 2 Reasoning Test Practice 2 activity checks pupils’ understanding of comparing numbers, comparing time, recognising even numbers, use inverse addition and subtraction to find a missing number and find the difference using a bar diagram.  After answering the question, pupils then select an appropriate explanation for their answer.

Questions in this activity are based on content taught so far this year and in Year 1.

National Curriculum Objectives:

Number – number and place value
(2N2b) Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use <, > and = signs

Number – multiplication and division
(2C6) Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers

Number – addition and subtraction
(2C2b) Add and subtract numbers using concrete objects and pictorial representations, including:

a two-digit number and ones

a two-digit number and tens

two two-digit numbers

adding three one-digit numbers
(2C3) Recognise and use the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction and use this to check calculations and missing number problems

(2S2b) Ask and answer questions about totalling and comparing categorical data
