This Year 2 Position and Direction Maths Challenge aims to extend pupils’ understanding of movement and direction. Children will follow the instructions to plot a journey on a grid. They will use their knowledge of turns, including half turns, quarter turns and three-quarter turns. They will also use their knowledge of clockwise and anticlockwise.

(2P2) Use mathematical vocabulary to describe position, direction and movement, including movement in a straight line and distinguishing between rotation as a turn and in terms of right angles for quarter, half and three-quarter turns (clockwise and anticlockwise)
