Reception 3D Shapes Recognition Game

Teacher Specific Information

This Reception 3D Shapes Recognition Game will help children practise identifying and naming 3D shapes. Encourage children to name the 3D shape of the familiar objects shown and drag them to the corresponding 3D shape at the bottom.  You could provide a practical activity where the children hunt for spheres and cuboids around the setting, for example.

If you would like to access additional resources which link to this Reception 3D Shapes Recognition Game, you can purchase a subscription for only £5.31 per month on our sister site, Classroom Secrets.

Development Matters

40 – 60 Months
(MS-8) Beginning to use mathematical names for ‘solid’ 3D shapes and ‘flat’ 2D shapes, and mathematical terms to describe shapes.

(MS-9) Selects a particular named shape.

Early Learning Goal
(ELG12) Children use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems. They recognise, create and describe patterns. They explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.
