Phonics Phase 3 Rhyming Pair Game

Teacher Specific Information

This Phonics Phase 3 Rhyming Pair Game helps children develop their understanding of words that sound the same. They need to drag the card on the left to its matching partner on the right. You could encourage children to think of an extra word, for example chip, ship, dip. The words chosen are phonetically decodable so you may wish to explore onset and rime and ask children to record a rhyming string.

Early Learning Goal
(ELG9) Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.
