Phonics Phase 3 Rhyme Matching Game
Teacher Specific Information
This Phonics Phase 3 Rhyme Matching Game will help children learn more about words that rhyme. They need to find two pictures that rhyme to win the pair, for example, boot and shoot. The words in the game are phonetically decodable so you could ask children to write a rhyming string.
The game includes the rhyming pairs:
jet and wet
hop and shop
jog and log
path and bath
boot and shoot
chair and hair
Development Matters
40 – 60 Months

Early Learning Goal
(ELG9) Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.
