Multiply 4 Digits by 2 Digits Video Tutorial

Teacher Specific Information

In this Multiply 4 Digits by 2 Digits Video Tutorial, Martin shows pupils how to multiply a 2-digit number by a 4-digit number. He does this by using strategies that pupils will have already experienced earlier in key stage 2. During the process, he refers to using zero as a placeholder when multiplying by the tens digit and then demonstrates adding the two parts of the multiplication together to get the total. Martin uses terminology such as digits, place value, product and multiply.

This video will be useful for children to watch at home or for extra support as part of an intervention, or whole class activity.
