### Teacher Specific Information

During this Adding Fractions Video Tutorial, Martin shows pupils how to add mixed numbers by using two different methods. Firstly, he demonstrates adding the whole numbers and the fractions separately; he then shows pupils the method of converting the mixed numbers to improper fractions in order to be able to add them. Martin speaks about the need to find the lowest common multiple in order to find the lowest common denominator and uses vocabulary such as denominator, numerator, mixed number, lowest common multiple, common denominator, improper fraction and multiply.

This video will be useful for children to watch at home or for extra support as part of an intervention, or whole class activity.
