This Year 4 Formal and Informal Language Game checks pupils’ understanding of identifying whether language and vocabulary is typical of formal or informal speech. Pupils will sort words and phrases into a table, select informal words in a passage, match informal phrases with their formal equivalent, select formal sentences from a selection, and determine whether a given passage uses formal or informal language.
