Reception Life Cycle of a Sunflower

Teacher Specific Information

This Reception Life Cycle of a Sunflower Game helps children identify changes over time. Children need to sequence the images to show the cycle from a seed to a sunflower. There are two sequencing options available. There is also the option to discuss the names of each part with the cycle: seed, seedling, growing plant and sunflower. It may be useful to make links to other life cycles such as the life cycle of a butterfly or a chicken.

Development Matters

40 – 60 Months
(UW-TW6) Looks closely at similarities, differences, patterns and change.

Early Learning Goal
(ELG14) Children know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials
and living things. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments
might vary from one another. They make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things
occur, and talk about changes.
