Year 5 Parenthesis Game
Teacher Specific Information
This Year 5 Parenthesis Game checks pupils’ understanding of using brackets, commas and dashes to punctuate sentences. Children will identify sentences which make correct use of parenthesis, add parenthesis to a sentence, highlight words within a sentence to show where parenthesis would be placed, select words to show where parenthesis begins, and select words from a passage that need parenthesis neither before nor after it.
This activity is linked to the Classroom Secrets Year 5 GPS scheme of work.
Questions in this activity are based on the content in Spring Block 1 Steps 2 and 3 on the Classroom Secrets website, where you can find more resources.
